We arrived in Tucson last Tuesday, with a busy week scheduled around the 95th Bomb Group reunion. For the past 3 years, we’ve been engaged in a half million dollar (successful!) fundraising project to raise monies to update the 95th’s Memorial Room in Tucson. Yesterday was the rededication and reopening of the room, with over 200 in attendance.
Here are some shots of the room taken before people were allowed in.
It was a festive affair, with the esteemed 8th Air Force historian Donald Miller as our keynote speaker, and the Manhattan Dolls performing.
One of the most popular displays was the interactive database, where people can look up a 95th veteran, see the missions they flew and all information we have about that mission, including photos of the veteran, plane and crew.
It was a happy day for me and my co-chair, Margaret, whose museum expertise proved invaluable to the project. We couldn’t have done it without her!
